Wyo Sports Ranch Receives Grant from Daniels Fund

(CASPER, WY) July 5, 2023 — WYO Sports Ranch announced today that it has received a $4,000,000 Daniels Fund grant to support construction of the new 131,000 square foot indoor sports complex designed to host youth and amateur sports tournaments and events in Casper, Wyoming.

“The grant will enable WYO Sports Ranch to be a place where our youth can practice, play, compete, and grow as young athletes. Currently, lack of competition and practice space is a problem for most teams throughout the state of Wyoming. Indoor space is limited by the facilities available and outdoor space is limited by our climate. These combining factors make it difficult for teams to practice and play day-to-day. In addition, our teams are extensively traveling far and wide to find competition to play. WYO Sports Ranch will provide access to space to practice and play and draw tournaments from a nation network to Casper, WY to compete”, Trudi Holthouse, WYO Sports Ranch Board Member.

Youth sports is a huge industry across the United States and facilities like WYO Sports Ranch spark significant community development, known as a “halo effect.” From beginning to end, these developments will need contractors to build them, staff to run them, and patrons to use them. WYO Sports Ranch will increase tourism and create a long-term positive effect on the community. The WYO Sports Ranch will be a catalyst for great things to come in Casper and throughout Wyoming.

“Sports teach invaluable skills and lessons such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance,” said Hanna Skandera, President & CEO of the Daniels Fund. “We are excited to be a lead supporter of WYO Sports Ranch which will provide a much-needed state-of-the-art resource for the region, creating opportunities for athletes to compete, excel, and reach their full potential.”

The Daniels Fund, established by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels, is a private charitable foundation dedicated to making life better for the people of Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah through its grants program, scholarship program, and ethics initiative.

Bill Daniels launched his cable career by building Casper’s first cable system in 1954. He created the Daniels Fund to give back to the communities that contributed to his success.

Bill Daniels was also a natural athlete in many sports as a youth and was a two-year New Mexico Golden Gloves Boxing champion. As an adult, he established one of the first regional sports networks and was an owner of pro sports teams, including the Utah Stars, the Los Angeles Express, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The WYO Sports Ranch is a perfect combination of Bill Daniels’ love of sports and his start in Casper. WYO Sports Ranch is honored to receive this grant to help Bring Youth Sports Out West. To learn more about Bill Daniels and the Daniels Fund, visit DanielsFund.org.
