Homestead

Homestead is where an athlete’s journey begins. These opportunities are designed around individual skill development, confidence, fundamentals, and a genuine love for volleyball. Camps, clinics, workouts, trainings, and leagues give athletes opportunities to learn in a positive, developmental environment without requiring the commitment of a travel team. Homestead is intentionally grassroots and local, giving athletes a place to discover their potential and build the skills necessary for their next step. Whether an athlete is picking up a ball for the first time or looking to sharpen a specific skill, Homestead provides a pathway to learn the game, love the game, and grow the game.

Academy Camps provide high-energy, focused opportunities for athletes to develop fundamental skills, build confidence, and have fun playing the game.

Academy Clinics provide targeted instruction and focused repetitions around specific skills, techniques, positions, or aspects of the game.

Academy Workouts give athletes focused repetitions and structured opportunities to improve individual skills through purposeful practice.

Academy Trainings provide structured, progressive skill development designed to help athletes build a stronger and more complete foundation in their sport.

Academy Leagues give athletes an opportunity to develop their skills in a fun, competitive, and local game environment.

Club

Club is designed for athletes ready to take the next step from individual development into team-based competition. Club athletes learn how to practice, communicate, compete, and contribute as part of a team. The pathway includes entry-level Homestead Teams, Club Teams, and in some cases Select Teams, allowing athletes to find the appropriate level of commitment and competition. Club Teams primarily practice and compete at WYO Sports Ranch, while Select Teams travel and compete throughout the region. Club is about more than winning games—it is about learning how to be a great teammate, competing with purpose, and growing together.

Club Teams introduce athletes to organized team competition while keeping the experience local, developmental, and accessible.

They are the entry point into the Academy’s team pathway. Athletes learn the fundamentals of team play while continuing to develop their individual skills. Practices emphasize teamwork, communication, fundamentals, and learning how to compete together. Competition is structured to provide meaningful game experience without placing unnecessary pressure on young athletes. Homestead Teams help athletes make the transition from individual development to becoming part of a team.

For high school athletes ready to take their game beyond the local level, our Select AAU program provides an opportunity to compete against high-level competition and represent the WYO Sports Ranch on the road. Players develop their skills, volleyball IQ, and competitive edge while gaining valuable team and tournament experience.

Volleyball Program Manger

Meet Corin Carruth

Corin Carruth was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming. She is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community and to the sport that gave her so much growing up.

Carruth played volleyball, basketball, and track at Kelly Walsh High School. She was fortunate to be mentored by great coaches in all three sports, but volleyball has always, without a doubt, been her favorite. Throughout her career, she was named 4A player of the year, received multiple all-conference selections, and played on back-to-back-to-back Wyoming State championship teams. As a young player, she never really thought about playing volleyball in college. She simply knew that she loved playing. She loved going to practice, getting better, and having something to do with her friends every day after school and on the weekends. As she grew as a player, the opportunity to play in college became more real, and she went on to play volleyball at the University of Wyoming. She feels very lucky to have had the opportunity to represent the state of Wyoming and play volleyball at the Division I level.

Carruth still loves playing and continues to do so, but her relationship with volleyball has shifted over the years. After graduating, she had the opportunity to volunteer coach for Jeff Barkell at Kelly Walsh for a season before moving to Dallas, Texas. While in Dallas, she happened to live just minutes from one of the top clubs in the state and was fortunate enough to work with the top 15s and 16s teams at Texas Advantage Volleyball. She has also worked various camps and provided individual lessons. Through each of these experiences, her love for the sport has only continued to grow.

In her position at WYO Sports Ranch, Carruth hopes to foster that same love of volleyball in young athletes throughout Casper. Maybe an athlete goes on to play college volleyball. Maybe she makes varsity. Maybe she becomes an incredible high school player. Maybe volleyball eventually becomes something she looks back on as one of the best parts of her childhood. Or maybe it becomes something she continues to play long into her adult years with her friends, laughing about how easy it used to be to get off the ground.

To Carruth, all of those outcomes are successful. Her hope is to give athletes the skills, experiences, relationships, and love for the game that allow them to decide what volleyball will become for them.
